A site audit is a system whereby you assess the performance of your Internet web space, and formulate possible ways to improve its efficiency. It is best to start with an on page site audit, for several reasons. Firstly, it is something you have complete, direct, control over, so you can make changes very quickly. Secondly, there is little point in trying to build up links through any system which involves negotiation with other people until your own site has become a desirable property in its own right. Finally, there is the simple fact that on page optimization is the fastest way to make a change in your site's ranking.
The most important areas to concentrate on are the headings, and anything within the meta tags. These areas are often ignored by people who latch on to the latest gimmicks with scant regard for the important fundamentals, but they remain the backbone of search engine optimization. Carry out the necessary research into which keywords your prospects are using to search for your service, and make sure that those keywords appear in the title, the meta tags, and any headings used on the page.
